KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- Ryan Clark scored a game-high 23 points to lift host Kalamazoo College to a 68-61 win over the University of Chicago men's basketball team in non-conference play Saturday afternoon.
Kalamazoo (2-6) scored the game's first 11 points before the Maroons rallied to even the score at 24-24 on a three-pointer from Chase Davis with just under five minutes left in the first half. Davis scored 13 points on the afternoon.
The Hornets, who never trailed, led 30-28 at halftime and increased their advantage to 49-39 on a Grant Carey layup with 12:29 remaining in the contest. Carey finished the day with 14 points.
Clark's sixth three-pointer of the game gave Kalamazoo its largest lead of the second half, 60-49, at the 7:40 mark. Chicago (2-6) answered with a 12-4 run to trim cut the gap to 64-61 with 2:08 to go, but the Hornets kept the Maroons off the scoreboard the rest of the way.
Matt Johnson paced the Maroons with 17 points, while third-year Tom Williams notched his second straight double-double with 11 points and a game-high 15 rebounds.
