CASTINE, Maine – Maine Maritime Men's Basketball (1-7, 0-3) fell to North Atlantic Conference opponent Castleton (4-3, 2-1) on Friday night 81-61, inside of Smith Gymnasium.
The Mariners used back-to-back Nick Holt (Ellsworth, Maine) three-pointers and five points from Jason Hatch(Isleboro, Maine) to jump out to an 11-8 lead early in the game. The Spartans responded with a 14-unanswered points to build a substantial 22-11 lead. Maine Maritime continued to fight, but Castleton took a 42-22 lead into the half.
Holt scored a game-high 14 points for the Mariners, while Kyle Boucher (Wayne, Maine) grabbed 11 points off the bench.
The Spartans were led by Carnelius Green who had a team-high eight points, while Tyler Arsenault added seven points off the bench.
Maine Maritime will return to action tomorrow afternoon when they host Green Mountain at 3:00 PM.
